I.M. Pei’s Archive Gifted to the MIT Museum

The MIT Museum secured the acquisition of the I. M. Pei’s architectural archive from Pei Cobb Freed & Partners through a landmark gift. Comprising more than 1,500 rolls of drawings, 50 architectural models, and 1,000 linear feet of manuscripts, the archive establishes the Museum as home to the largest collection of Pei's work, preserving the legacy of one of the twentieth century's most influential architects.

Beyond preserving an extraordinary architectural legacy, the acquisition creates a lasting resource for research, teaching, and public engagement, ensuring that I. M. Pei's work will continue to inspire scholars, students, architects, and the public.

As a member of the MIT Museum's advancement team, I was grateful to work alongside colleagues, donors, and institutional leadership in advancing this landmark gift to the Museum.
